Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Applications submitted by emailing permitcenter@buckeyeaz.gov or via the EnerGov CSS (Customer Self Service) online portal at egselfservice.buckeyeaz.gov; select residential permit types (Gas Lines, Pools, Spas, Fences, Electric Meters, Water Heaters, Temporary Signs, Single Service Dry Utility) are issued same day if a complete submittal is received by 2 p.m.

Published scheduling rules

  • All CSP and TSP submittals, resubmittals, and payments are made electronically per the City's Planning and Zoning webpage process; incomplete applications are not accepted and applications received after 4:00 p.m. are processed the next business day (Sign Permit (Commercial/Business Signage))

Inspection sequence

Applies to: Residential Building Permit (New Construction)

    Foundation/Footing

    Before concrete pour

    Framing

    Structural framing, connections, egress, per 2024 IRC and City of Buckeye Design Criteria

  3. 3

    Lath or Gypsum Board Inspection

    After all lath and gypsum board (interior and exterior) is in place, before plastering or taping/finishing of joints and fasteners (City of Buckeye amendment R109.1.5.2)

  4. 4

    Final / Certificate of Occupancy

    All work complete per approved plans; Certificate of Occupancy issued per residence ($140 fee as of Resolution 38-26, eff. 5/21/2026; previously $100)

    Before concrete pour — verify pipe slope, materials, cleanouts

    Performed first, before the Change of Occupant Inspection, per the City's Change of Occupant Permit Procedure

    Building inspector verifies the space matches the submitted floor plan and meets code requirements for the new tenant's use without modification

Applies to: Electrical Permit

    Rough-In

    Wiring, box placement, and panel connections before walls are closed

    Final / Meter Clearance

    Devices installed, panel labeled and dielectric-tested (1,000A+), protections verified per 2023 NEC

    Required for engineered retaining walls before backfill

    Performed by BFMRD Fire Prevention Division; required before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued for any commercial space

    Ductwork and equipment placement before walls closed
