Requirements
- DIGITAL SUBMISSION IS MANDATORY FOR A NAMED LIST: "Building and Safety permits require digital submissions for the following permit types: New commercial/industrial buildings; Additions to commercial/industrial buildings; Commercial/industrial tenant improvements; New tract homes; New custom homes; Photovoltaic systems (residential and commercial)."
- CHECK YOU ARE ACTUALLY IN THE CITY FIRST - the city's own first step is to "Confirm that you are located within the City of Temecula by using our 'Am I in the City of Temecula' app." Riverside County unincorporated areas run right up to the boundary.
- THE PORTAL ACCOUNT NEEDS A WEEK'S HEAD START: "Register for a Citizen Self Service (CSS) account a week prior to when you plan on submitting."
- A COMPLETED BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION (PDF) IS DOWNLOADED AND UPLOADED - the paper form is still the application, submitted through the portal rather than at a counter.
- REVISIONS NEED PERMISSION BEFORE UPLOAD: "If you have revisions to previously issued Building Permits, you may use our Building and Safety Revision Request form to request the ability to upload your revisions to your Citizen Self Service (CSS) account." The upload right is granted, not assumed.
- THE OBLIGATION TO GET INSPECTIONS SITS WITH THE OWNER: "It is the property owner's responsibility to make sure that all required inspections are made on a project, including both in-progress inspections and the final inspection. The contractor, however, may schedule the inspections and be the one on-site."
