   The city publishes the date it is currently booking into

   The inspections page carries a live line reading "We're now scheduling for" followed by a date. Read on 2026-09-20 it named TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2026 - two days ahead. This is a perishable figure that moves with workload; it is recorded here with the date it was read and should be re-read rather than relied on.

   The schedule posts at 8:15 AM and the call comes before it

   "The on-site point of contact listed on the inspection request form will receive a call from an inspector each morning with the assigned time window." The Permit Center page gives the window for that call: "We will contact the on-site point of contact from the online inspection request form between 7AM & 8AM." Then "Daily inspection schedules, including AM and PM windows, will also be available online by 8:15 AM each day."

   Inspections run 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the time is not yours to pick

   "Inspection times vary based on workload and occur between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m." The office is open until 5 p.m., so the last office hour is not an inspection hour.

   Six things to have ready when requesting

   The city lists them: "Permit Number; Site Address; Requested type of inspection (located on the back of permit card); Date of the inspection request; Contact information of the person requesting inspection, including their phone number; Any pertinent information regarding inspection."

   Electric panel change-outs can buy an early slot

   "Electric panel change-outs requesting inspections earlier than the first available time must pay for an overtime inspection at the Building Department. Overtime inspections take place after 4 p.m. on the day of the change-out or may be rescheduled through the electrical provider." Paying moves the inspection later in the day, not earlier - the point is same-day power restoration.

   Certificates of occupancy need three business days

   "Certificate of Occupancy Inspection Requests will be scheduled at a minimum of 3 business days out." That is a floor, and it is longer than the ordinary queue was on the day this record was read.

7. 7

   Special inspectors are checked on arrival

   "The City of Temecula Building Inspector, when performing an inspection that requires a Special/Deputy Inspector will verify the Special Inspector's registration and review identification and credentials of the Special/Deputy Inspector." Bring the credentials to site, not just the registration.
