ANYONE WITH AN ACCOUNT CAN BOOK AN INSPECTION AGAINST YOUR PERMIT: "you do not need to be listed as a contact on the permit record to request an inspection." That is genuinely convenient on a multi-trade job where the electrician is not the permit holder - and it is worth knowing that the permit holder is not the only person who can move the schedule. THE CITY IS HONEST THAT NEXT-DAY IS AN AIM, NOT A SERVICE LEVEL: "Inspection requests may be limited based on workload and staffing levels. Inspection capacity is generally set to accommodate next-day inspections whenever possible." Antioch withdrew its next-day guarantee on a named date; Redding never offered one and says why. Inspections run earlier than the counter
"Building inspections are conducted Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM." The Permit Center itself opens at 8 am, so the first hour of the inspection day has no counter behind it.

No same-day requests, and next-day is an aim rather than a promise
"Same-day inspection requests are not accepted." On capacity the city is candid: "Inspection requests may be limited based on workload and staffing levels. The city's own step list ends: "Enter the requested inspection date and any comments or gate codes", then "Select 'Submit' to finalize the request. Somebody qualified, with the plans and the card
"Contractors are responsible for preparing the site for inspection. A qualified representative must be present on-site with approved plans and the permit/job card available for the inspector." Failing that, "Re-inspection fees may apply".

After-hours inspections need five working days' notice
"Requests for after-hours inspections must be submitted at least 5 working days before the requested inspection date", and they carry a 2-hour minimum charge. Anything beyond that minimum "must be submitted in writing."
