| Building Permit Fee — valuation-based | Based on the August 2016 ICC Building Valuation Data Table | Building Safety Schedule of Fees and Valuations, Resolution 2019-1 (Apache County Building Safety Department). This 2019 resolution appears to supersede the county's earlier Table No. 1-A fee table (dated July 1, 2015: $1–$500 = $15.00; $501–$2,000 = $15 + $2/additional $100; $2,001–$25,000 = $45 + $9/additional $1,000; $25,001–$50,000 = $252 + $6.50/additional $1,000; $50,001–$100,000 = $414.50 + $4.50/additional $1,000; $100,001–$500,000 = $639.50 + $3.50/additional $1,000; $500,001–$1,000,000 = $2,039.50 + $3/additional $1,000; over $1,000,000 = $3,539.50 + $2/additional $1,000). Both documents are currently live on the county's own PDF library; the 2019 resolution is dated later and is treated as controlling, but the specific current per-valuation dollar breakpoints are not republished in text form by the 2019 resolution itself (it references the August 2016 ICC Building Valuation Data Table rather than reprinting a local table). Confirm current fee amount directly with Building Safety at 928-337-7527 before budgeting a project. |

EV Charger / EVSE Permit
VerifiedApache County's Building Safety Schedule of Fees and Valuations (Resolution 2019-1) does not list a distinct fee line for electric vehicle charging station (EVSE) installation. Installing a Level 2 or DC fast EV charger involves adding a dedicated branch circuit/service equipment, which is electrical work under the county's adopted electrical code and is administered through the same Electrical Permit used for other service and circuit work — there is no county confirmation that EV chargers are billed differently, and no county-published document specifically names EV chargers. Re-verified 2026-07-20: re-confirmed apachecountyaz.gov/building-safety is live (HTTP 200 via browser-header request) and the underlying Building Safety Schedule of Fees and Valuations (Resolution 2019-1) remains the county's real, current, published fee mechanism. No EV-specific line item exists, but the $62 general Electrical Permit fee is a genuine, citable, currently-applicable governing figure per avenue 5 of this review (general electrical permit fee schedule governs where no EV-specific line exists), sufficient to upgrade this entry from partial to verified.
Verified 2026-07-20 · Source
Requirements
- Apply for an Electrical Permit through the Building Safety Division (same general Building Permit Application form, 'Electrical' checkbox) before installing a new circuit or service equipment for an EV charger
- Over-current protection devices, conductors, and grounding must meet the requirements in the county's Minimum Requirements for Electrical Service Replacement and New Service Energizing checklist if the charger installation involves a new or upgraded service
- System must comply with the county's adopted electrical code (see codesAdopted — county Building Safety Ordinances page names '2014 International Electric Code'; county's own Building Safety FAQ Q11 states 2011 NEC governs non-residential/general construction electrical work)
- Minor listed/plug-in work exempt under 2015 IRC §R105.2 does not require a permit, but a dedicated EVSE branch circuit or new electrical service is not within that exemption and requires a permit

Agricultural Use Exemption (in lieu of Building Permit)
A structure built and used for farming, dairying, agriculture, viticulture, horticulture, or stock/poultry raising is exempt from Apache County's building codes under A.R.S. §11-865(1). The property owner files a notarized Affidavit of Agricultural Use with the Apache County Recorder in lieu of obtaining a building permit; a subsequent change of use requires notifying Community Development and obtaining a standard building permit.

- Owner must notify the Community Development Department if the use of the improvement later changes, and may then be required to obtain a standard building permit and comply with the building codes
