Swimming Pool / Spa / Hot Tub Permit

Requirements
- Permit required for any pool, spa, or hot tub containing water over 18 inches deep and wider than 8 feet (residential pools); prefabricated above-ground pools/spas/hot tubs at or above 5,000 gallons require permits for associated electric/plumbing/mechanical work
- Pool/spa/hot tub must be completely enclosed by a barrier at least 60 inches high above finished grade, with self-closing/self-latching gates, per the amended IPMC Section 303.2, IBC Section 3109.0, and ISPSC Section 305
- Construction fencing at least 60 inches high is required around in-ground pool/spa construction sites from the start of excavation until the permanent barrier is complete
- Spas/hot tubs with a safety cover complying with ASTM F1346 are exempt from the barrier-enclosure requirement
- Public/semi-public pools must additionally comply with A.R.S. § 36-1681 and Arizona Administrative Code Title 18, Chapter 5
