Published scheduling rules
- REQUEST INSPECTIONS BY 1:00 PM THE DAY BEFORE - and the city suggests three business days. (Building Permit)
Inspection sequence
Applies to: Building Permit
- 1
Two request routes, with a stated preference
"Inspection requests and cancellations can be made by logging in to the permit portal (Civic Access) (recommended for faster scheduling) or by calling the Building Division at 925-779-7065."
- 2
The hard deadline is 1:00 PM the day before
"Inspection requests must be made no later than 1:00 PM the day prior to the requested inspection date." Separately, and more cautiously: "Due to current inspection volume and staff resources, we recommend submitting your request at least three (3) business days in advance of your requested inspection date."
- 3
The next-day guarantee was withdrawn, with a date
"Inspections are scheduled on a first-come first-served basis. As of August 1, 2023 there is no guarantee of next day inspections." The city dates the change rather than quietly dropping the promise.
- 4
AM or PM, requested but not guaranteed
"When submitting inspection requests through the portal, you can specify a time-frame of AM (9AM to 12PM) or PM (12PM to 3PM), but we are unable to guarantee the requested timeframes." Once scheduled, "you will see in your permit portal that is has been assigned as AM... or PM". A daily schedule sits in the "Today's Inspections" section of Civic Access.
- 5
Three things must be on site or the inspection fails
"All of the following items must be ready for the inspector upon arrival at the inspection site. If any of the below items are not available at the time the City of Antioch Inspector has arrived on-site, the inspection will fail and re-inspection fees... will be charged." They are: a printed copy of the Building Permit, a printed copy of the approved Construction Plans, and "Ladder(s) must be provided and available on-site for roof access if needed."
- 6
Solar inspections carry their own list, on the same terms
Under the same failure rule: "If no verifiable Ufer is observed, 8' ground rod/rods must be installed (with gas and water bonding in place)"; "All placards and conduit stickers must be applied and legible"; "All equipment with a dead-front must be open (with dead-front removed) for inspection"; ladders for roof access; and "Photos of open jboxes on roof, wire management under panels, and panel attachment to roof." Printed on site: the Building Permit, the SolarApp Inspection Checklist and a Single-Line Diagram.
