How to schedule
Inspections are requested through the building department below.
- Address
- City of Concord Permit Center (Building D), 1950 Parkside Drive, MS/51, Concord, CA 94519
- Phone
- 925-671-3107 (Permit Center); 925-671-3330 (Building Inspectors)
- Office hours
- THE COUNTER KEEPS A FULL FIVE-DAY WEEK AND SHUTS FOR ONE HOUR IN THE MIDDLE OF EACH DAY: "Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.", "Closed on City Holidays". THE INSPECTORS ARE A SEPARATE AND MUCH NARROWER SERVICE, on their own number: "City inspectors are in the field daily. Office meetings are by appointment only. Inspectors are available by phone the following hours: Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m." So the counter is reachable seven hours a day and the inspectors two, and both inspector windows fall outside the counter's own opening hours.

Published scheduling rules
- BOOK THE INSPECTION THE DAY BEFORE - every request rolls to the next business day, and a Friday-to-Sunday request lands on Monday. (Building Permit)
- INSPECTIONS MUST BE REQUESTED BY THE PERMIT HOLDER, not by anyone else on the job: "Inspections must be requested by the permit holder. Permit holders are required to submit a request via the Request an Inspection button above." (Building Permit)
- EVERY INSPECTION REQUEST ROLLS TO THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, AND CONCORD WORKS THE EXAMPLE SO THE WEEKEND CANNOT BE MISREAD: "a request submitted up to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday will be scheduled for Friday. A request submitted any time Friday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday will be scheduled for Monday. Holidays are treated the same as a weekend day." Most cities in this corpus publish a cut-off time; Concord publishes the arithmetic. (General)
Inspection sequence

- 1
Request it the day before - every request rolls to the next business day
Concord publishes the rule and then works an example, which removes the usual ambiguity: "All inspection requests are scheduled for the next business day. For example, a request submitted up to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday will be scheduled for Friday. A request submitted any time Friday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday will be scheduled for Monday. Holidays are treated the same as a weekend day." No same-day inspection route appears on the page.
- 2
Ask for AM or PM when you book; you will not get a time
"Requests for AM (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.) or PM (12 p.m. to 4 p.m.) time windows are made when submitting your inspection request", and the city is explicit that the window is a preference: "While we do our best to accommodate preferred time windows, we cannot guarantee a specific time slot." It also states the precondition plainly - "Work must be completed and ready for inspection prior to the inspection date."
- 3
The schedule firms up at 7:30 a.m. on the day
"Inspection are scheduled up until 7:30 a.m. the day of. If you check Today's Inspection Schedule prior to 7:30 a.m. and your inspection is not scheduled, please check back after 7:30 a.m." - the missing verb agreement is the city's own. After 7:30 a.m. the published daily schedule confirms both the inspection and its AM or PM window.
- 4
Inspection hours, and the two hours a day you can reach an inspector
"Inspection Hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday." Reaching a person is narrower: "You can call the inspectors at 925-671-3330 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. or Email the Inspectors to discuss general inspection questions as well as plumbing, mechanical, and electrical questions." In-person meetings with inspectors are by appointment only.
