Requirements
- Check which band your work falls in before assuming a timeline: the city's Review Time-Frames handout sorts work into INSTANT online permits, SAME DAY ISSUANCE, and 5, 10 or 20 WORKING DAY reviews, listing project types by name under each.
- ADD THE INTAKE TIME TO THE REVIEW TIME. The handout's own footnote: "*Please allow 1-2 business days for processing intake and approvals." The review-day figures are not the whole wait.
- Budget for review rounds. "Submittals after the 3rd review and all Revisions are charged at an hourly rate with a 1/2-hour minimum. For rates & fees, please see our Master Fee Schedule on our website." The first reviews are covered by the permit fee; the fourth onward is metered.
- Design to the code current when the submittal is RECEIVED: "All new submittals received as of January 1, 2026, will be required to meet the 2025 California Code".
- Inspections go through e-TRAKiT or the main line: "Inspection requests can be made on e-TRAKiT or by calling (209) 831-6400".
