The City of Jacksonville's Building Inspection Division issues building permits for work in the city. The division states that "Online (electronic) permit submission is now required for all permit types" through JaxEPICS, and that a JaxEPICS account is needed before applying.

Requirements
- Constructing, erecting, altering, modifying, repairing or demolishing a building — s. 553.79(1)(a), Florida Statutes, makes it unlawful to do any of those 'without first obtaining a permit'. The city pages read for this record do not themselves state a permit trigger, so the requirement is cited to the statute rather than to the city.
