Applies to: Residential Addition / Remodel / Accessory Structure Permit

    Foundation / Setback

    Foundation inspection on work not requiring an engineered foundation; setback inspection on engineered foundations

  2. 2

    Rough Plumbing

    Prior to covering, with water or air pressure test; E-1 pumps inspected by the City Water Department (240-1484)

  3. 3

    Gas Inspection

    After piping/vents/ducts installed and air-tested to 20 psi for 2+ hours

  4. 4

    Framing

    After dried-in, before interior walls/ceilings/partitions are covered

  5. 5

    Electrical (State)

    Performed by the State Electrical Inspector, not the City, prior to insulation and prior to building final

  6. 6

    Insulation

    Prior to wallboard installation

  7. 7

    Wallboard

    Whenever material is hung, prior to taping/finishing

  8. 8

    Final Inspection

    After building is finished, prior to occupancy; address posted, final electrical inspection form on site required for Certificate of Occupancy

Applies to: Residential Building Permit (New Construction)

    Foundation / Setback

    Foundation inspection on work not requiring an engineered foundation; setback inspection on all engineered foundations (engineer must inspect and provide a letter of approval on file before framing inspection)

    Made prior to covering, with water or air pressure test; rough-in inspected prior to covering trench

  3. 3

    Gas Inspection

    After all piping, vents, ducts, and appurtenances are installed and air-tested to 20 psi for not less than two hours, tested through the gas meter yoke

  4. 4

    Framing

    After the house is dried in, before house wrap and before interior walls/ceilings/partitions are covered; electrical, plumbing, gas, and mechanical ductwork must be installed first; foundation letter must be on file

    Electrical (State)

    Performed by the State Electrical Inspector (DORA), not the City, prior to insulation inspection

  6. 6

    Insulation

    Prior to wallboard installation; insulation must be exposed for inspection

    Wallboard

    Whenever material is hung, prior to taping/finishing joints and fasteners

  8. 8

    Final Inspection

    After building is finished, prior to occupancy; address must be posted and a final electrical inspection form from the State Electrical Inspector must be on site before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued

Applies to: Plumbing / Gas Permit

    Rough Plumbing

    Prior to covering, water or air pressure test required; rough-in inspected prior to covering trench

  2. 2

    Gas Inspection

    After all piping, vents, ducts, and appurtenances are installed and air-tested to 20 psi for not less than two hours, tested through the gas meter yoke

    Final Inspection

    Fixtures connected, venting verified, as part of the overall building-permit final inspection

Applies to: Roofing Permit (Reroofing)

    Shingle Inspection (pre-permit)

    Required prior to permit issuance when covering an existing roofing layer

    Mid-Roof Inspection

    Required when more than 10% but less than 25% of the roof is complete

  3. 3

    Final Roof Inspection

    When the roof is complete; safe roof access must be provided, photographs are not accepted in lieu of inspection
