Tips
- Effective June 1, 2023, ALL pole and post frame buildings (pole barns) require stamped engineering from an Idaho-licensed design professional. This is a hard requirement — generic plans alone are not acceptable.
- SWDH approval is required for accessory structures even if there is no septic connection — it confirms you are not covering any existing or future septic/drain field sites on the parcel.
- No accessory structure permits are issued for vacant parcels; an existing residence must already be present.
- Metal buildings, aluminum patio covers, and systems not described in adopted codes all require stamped engineering.
- Call the Inspection Line at 208-454-7460 by 4:00 PM for next-business-day inspections. Colored stamped plans and engineering must be on site and legible.
