Required for new residential construction, additions, alterations, and demolition in the City of Kellogg. A single Building Department Permit Application form covers new construction, additions, alterations, demolition, fence installation, re-roof, siding, sign installation, mobile/manufactured home setting, and floodplain development — the applicant checks the box(es) that apply to their project.

Requirements

  • Building permit required for any and all work done on the property per the City of Kellogg Building Department
  • No construction may begin until the permit is issued
  • Commercial construction or new construction requires TWO SETS OF PLANS from the contractor (minimum 24"x18")
  • Site plans must show boundaries and dimensions, proposed and existing structures, setbacks, roads, parking, sewer/septic facilities, and other pertinent information
  • Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work is NOT issued or inspected by the City of Kellogg — those permits are issued and inspected by the State of Idaho (Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses / Idaho Building Safety, 1-800-955-3044, dbs.idaho.gov)

Requirements

  • A pre-reroof inspection is required prior to application of new material — call (208) 661-0494 at least 24 hours in advance to schedule
  • Ice shield underlayment is required
  • Proper ventilation must be provided
  • Dry-rot conditions, structural problems, and/or IRC requirements must be addressed
  • Maximum of two roofing layers allowed on existing roof systems
  • Mobile/manufactured homes with a 30 lb snow-load roof system are allowed only one roof layer unless the second application is metal
