Electrical Permit (State-Issued) in West Yellowstone, Montana
Because West Yellowstone holds no DLI certification in Electrical (only a residential-only Building certification), electrical work anywhere within town limits — residential or commercial — requires a Residential, Homeowner, or Commercial Electrical Permit issued directly by the Montana DLI Building Codes Bureau in Helena, not by the Town, under the 2020 NEC. The same statewide BCP-1 fee schedule already documented for Anaconda-Deer Lodge and Hardin applies.

Tips
- Electrical permits for any West Yellowstone address (residential OR commercial) are issued by the STATE Building Codes Bureau in Helena, not the Town — mail applications and payment to PO Box 200517, Helena, MT 59620-0517, or apply online at ebiz.mt.gov / BuildingPermits.Mt.Gov / aca-prod.accela.com/bcb.
- The Town's own Building Permit form explicitly flags that 'Separate permits are required for Electrical, Plumbing, Heating, Ventilating or Air Conditioning' — confirming electrical is not covered by the Town's Building Permit.
