Tips
- Electrical signs need a separate Electrical Permit in addition to the Sign Permit — the Sign Permit Application itself flags this with a Yes/No 'Electrical Sign' checkbox, so budget for both permit fees up front.
- New monument or freestanding signs require engineered foundation plans and a site plan; simple wall-sign panel changes on an existing structure typically do not.
- The sign fee is based on your sign's stated contract value (materials + labor), run through the same Ordinance 3134 valuation table as other building permits — there is no flat or per-square-foot sign fee in Helena.
