- Fuel gas lives in the mechanical chapter in Edmonds, not the plumbing one. ECDC 19.20.000 adopts the UPC expressly excluding “any provisions that affect fuel gas piping” and deletes UPC Chapter 12 outright, so gas piping is reviewed against the 2021 IFGC inclusive of NFPA 54 and 58 under Chapter 19.15 ECDC.
- A handful of mechanical jobs need no permit at all under ECDC 19.00.025(G)(2): portable heating, ventilation, cooling, cooking or clothes drying appliances; replacement parts that do not alter equipment approval; portable fuel cell appliances not connected to fixed piping; steam or chilled water piping inside regulated equipment; portable evaporative coolers; and self-contained refrigeration systems with ten pounds or less of refrigerant.
