Sign Permit (On-Premises Signs) in West Wendover, Nevada
Required before erecting, enlarging, altering (beyond normal maintenance), or relocating any on-premises sign within West Wendover city limits, per City Code Title 7, Chapter 4 (Sign Code), Section 7-4-9. The City has separately adopted the Uniform Sign Code recommended by the International Conference of Building Officials (Section 7-4-1), with Chapter 4 controlling wherever it conflicts with that adopted code. Off-premises signs (billboards/outdoor advertising) are governed by a distinct, more restrictive permit process under Sections 7-4-12 through 7-4-19, not covered by this entry.

Tips
- Off-premises signs (billboards/outdoor advertising unrelated to the on-site business) are a separate, more restrictive permit category under City Code 7-4-12 through 7-4-19 and may additionally require a Conditional Use Permit depending on location — confirm which category applies before applying.
- Operating without a valid sign permit is a City Code violation subject to removal at the owner's expense plus escalating penalties: $100 for a first offense up to $1,000 for a fourth-or-later offense, per City Code 7-4-9(G).
- The City's Uniform Sign Code adoption (7-4-1) incorporates the International Conference of Building Officials' Uniform Sign Code as locally amended by Chapter 4 — where the two conflict, Chapter 4 controls.
