Fire Sprinkler & Fire Alarm System Permit (North Lyon County Fire Protection District) in Fernley, Nevada
Required for installation of automatic fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, and commercial hood/duct/automatic cooking extinguishing systems within Fernley city limits. Unlike other Fernley building permits, this permit is reviewed and issued by the North Lyon County Fire Protection District (NLCFPD) — an independent fire district, not a City of Fernley department — using NLCFPD's own Plan Review Application (Fire and Life Safety) and fee schedule. On the City's Building Permit Application-Commercial, both 'Proposed Fire Sprinkler System' and 'Proposed Fire Alarm System' are flagged '*separate permit required,' and the City will not approve a commercial building permit until NLCFPD returns a completed Building Permit Authorization Form.

Tips
- The North Lyon County Fire Protection District (not the City of Fernley Building Division) is the reviewing and issuing authority for fire sprinkler and fire alarm permits — submit plans directly to NLCFPD at 195 East Main Street, Fernley, or via its online Plan Review Application.
- The City of Fernley will not approve a commercial building permit until NLCFPD returns the Building Permit Authorization Form completed — build this into your project timeline.
- Only the fire sprinkler system carries an explicit $200 plan-review add-on fee on NLCFPD's published fee schedule; a standalone fire-alarm-only project is billed under the base Section B plan review fee for its construction type/size, with no separately published alarm-only line item.
