Inspection sequence

Applies to: Residential Building Permit (New Construction)

    Footing and Foundation

    After excavation for footings complete and required reinforcing steel in place; forms in place prior to inspection for concrete foundations

  2. 2

    Concrete Slab or Under-Floor

    After all in-slab or under-floor service equipment, conduit, and piping are in place, but before concrete is placed or floor sheathing installed

  3. 3

    Frame and Masonry

    After roof, framing, fire blocking and bracing are in place and rough electrical, plumbing, and heating are approved; includes the 2021 Duct Sealing Visual Inspection Checklist

  4. 4

    Exterior Wall Openings / Window Flashing

    Verification of flashing at window and door openings

  5. 5

    Weather-Resistive Barrier

    After installation of the weather-resistive barrier and before it is covered

  6. 6

    Energy Efficiency

    Installation of wall and ceiling insulation, including the 2021 Thermal Bypass Checklist

  7. 7

    Gypsum Board

    Final Inspection

    After finish grading and building completion; final electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections must be completed prior to final general construction inspection. Certificate of Occupancy issued after approval.

    Fire Sprinkler Rough-In / Hydrostatic Test

    Piping, sprinkler heads, and system components verified before concealment; hydrostatic pressure test performed per NFPA 13 (2019 ed., as referenced by the 2021 International Fire Code)

    Fire Alarm Final Acceptance Test

    Fire alarm control panel, initiating/notification devices, and system programming verified operational per NFPA 72 (2019 ed., as referenced by the 2021 International Fire Code) before the City of Hobbs Fire Marshal's Office signs off

    Final Inspection (Certificate of Occupancy)

    Fire sprinkler/alarm final inspections must be approved prior to the final general construction inspection and Certificate of Occupancy issuance (City of Hobbs Commercial Construction Guide, Required Inspections)

    Roof Deck / Tear-Off

    Verify existing roof covering removal where required and deck condition (rot, delamination) before new covering is applied

    Final

    Proper installation of roof covering and fasteners per manufacturer instructions; flashing and counter-flashing verified at chimneys, skylights, and roof-to-wall transitions (2021 IRC Section R905)

    Racking/Structural Attachment

    Roof or ground-mount racking attachment and structural connections verified against the approved plan set and any required structural analysis

    Final Electrical/Interconnection

    Panel, inverter, and interconnection wiring verified per the 2020 New Mexico Electrical Code (NMAC 14.10.4) and the solar-specific one-line diagram
