Published scheduling rules

  • A $125 cancellation fee applies if a scheduled inspection is cancelled within 3 days of the appointment; a $175 re-inspection fee applies if the job is not ready at the scheduled time. (Residential Building Permit)
  • Solar inspections are scheduled in narrower windows (10:00–11:30 AM or 3:00–4:30 PM) than standard building inspections. (Solar PV Permit)
  • Inspections must be requested online via the City Inspect portal at least one working day in advance; no same-day inspections, and inspections cannot be arranged in the field with inspectors on-site. (General)

Inspection sequence

Applies to: Commercial Building Permit

    Footing/Foundation

    Before concrete pour, per standard IBC inspection sequence enforced by American Fork Building Division. Concrete inspections are given a one-hour scheduling window per Building Inspection Policies and Procedures (rev. 7/22/2024); no inspections take place between 12:00-1:00 PM.

    Framing and MEP Rough-In

    Structural framing, wall sections, and electrical/mechanical/plumbing rough-in verified per the Commercial Plans Minimum Plan Requirements checklist (floor plan including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing; wall sections; roof or truss detail).

    Energy Compliance (ASHRAE 90.1 / ComCheck)

    ASHRAE 90.1 standards compliance verified via ComCheck (envelope, electrical, and mechanical) per American Fork's Commercial Plans checklist; lot, subdivision, and/or plan number must be on the submittal.

  4. 4

    Final / Certificate of Occupancy

    All work complete; Occupancy Fee ($150.00 commercial) applies per American Fork City Adopted Fee Schedule.
