Inspection sequence

Applies to: Residential Building Permit (New Construction / Additions / Alterations)

    Sewer/Water Lateral Inspection

    Water lateral connected with approved fitting; sewer lateral connected and set to grade at 1/4 inch per foot, with clean-out within 3 inches of the foundation, per the official Required Inspections document.

  2. 2

    Footing/Spot Footing Inspection

    Formed with steel hung in place, on natural ground without fill material, ice, or standing water.

  3. 3

    Foundation/Pier/Column Inspection

    Formed with steel tied in place, including all concrete-to-structure straps required by the plans.

    Under-Slab Plumbing Inspection

    All piping exposed and supported full length; requires a 10-foot head of water or air pressure test.

  5. 5

    Under-Slab Heating Inspection

    Under-slab heat duct material must be listed for its specific use; left fully exposed until inspected.

  6. 6

    Under-Slab Electrical Inspection

    Electrical systems to be covered by concrete must be left exposed and inspected first, including ground wiring to ground rods.

    Log and Beam Grading Inspection

    Done for all logs and rough-cut beams upon delivery, before installation; each piece must carry a visible lumber-grading stamp.

    Exterior Sheathing Inspection

    Required before any material is installed over structural sheathing; often combined with the 4-Way Rough Inspection.

    4-Way Rough Inspection

    Done before insulation; framing, electrical, heating/AC, and plumbing must be complete and ready for insulation and sheetrock.

    Flashing Inspection

    Done after exterior sheathing and before installation of exterior wall coverings.

    Fuel Gas Pipe Inspection

    Requires a meter clearance report, gas line sizing report, and air pressure test; often combined with the 4-Way Rough Inspection.

    Power-to-Panel Inspection

    Done when electrical wiring is complete enough for circuits to function once the power company energizes the meter base; all grounding must be in place.

  13. 13

    Insulation Inspection

    Done after walls and floors (including basement/crawlspace) are insulated per the approved energy analysis, before sheetrock or wall covering.

  14. 14

    Final Inspection

    Done when all items are complete and the structure is ready for occupancy.

    Underslab / Under-Slab MEP

    All underslab piping, conduit, and heating ducts exposed and supported before fill or concrete, per the official Required Inspections document.

    Foundation

    Formed with steel tied in place before concrete pour.

  3. 3

    4-Way Rough Inspection

    Framing, electrical, heating/AC, and plumbing complete and ready for insulation and wall coverings.

    Fire Alarm / Suppression Pre-Occupancy Trip Test

    Required only if a fire alarm or chemical suppression system is triggered by the UFC, per the City Fee Schedule Fire Department Fees section.

    Final Inspection

    Done when all items are complete and the structure is ready for occupancy.

    4-Way Rough Inspection

    Framing, electrical, heating/AC, and plumbing for the TI/remodel scope, complete and ready for wall coverings.

  2. 2

    Final Inspection

    Completed TI/remodel work verified before occupancy sign-off.

Applies to: Fire Sprinkler System & Fire Alarm System Permit

  1. 1

    Fire Sprinkler System On-Site Procedural Verification

    On-site verification of the installed fire sprinkler system by the South Ogden Fire Department, billed at $100 per the official Fee Schedule.

    Commercial Alarm System Pre-Occupancy Trip Test

    Pre-occupancy trip test confirming the fire alarm system activates correctly, combined with the $100 alarm system plan review fee (if required by UFC), per the official Fee Schedule.
