When you need this permit
- Required before performing any work within county right-of-way for a new or modified driveway/subdivision road access onto a county-maintained road
- Application specifies road name/number, township/range/section, mile point, and side of road
- County Engineer determines minimum culvert/drainage-structure size (minimum 18-inch round or equivalent pipe-arch, 24 feet long) and whether a Road-Use Agreement is required
- Gravel minimum 4 inches deep required on the driveway for at least 150 feet (or the driveway length, whichever is less) from the county road edge
- Permit is void if the driveway is not constructed within 6 months of approval
- Call (307) 674-2920 for County inspection once construction is complete
- Driveways onto STATE highways instead require a WYDOT Access Permit — not this county permit

Tips
- This county driveway permit is free, unlike the Zoning Permit or septic/floodplain permits.
- If your access point is onto a state highway rather than a county road, you need a WYDOT Access Permit instead — contact WYDOT Sheridan, 10 E. Brundage Lane, Sheridan, WY, (307) 674-2300.
- A copy of the approved access permit (whichever agency applies) must be submitted with the county Zoning Permit application.
