Fire Sprinkler / Fire Alarm System Permit in Frederick, Colorado
Fire protection within Frederick is provided by the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District (FFFPD, 8426 Kosmerl Place, Frederick, CO), which issues its own permits for installation of any new fire alarm or fire sprinkler system — including fire pumps, kitchen hood suppression systems, bi-directional amplification systems, AES Radio systems, and underground fire lines — as well as for modifications to existing systems, per the District's own 2024 Fee Schedule. These FFFPD permits are separate from, and in addition to, any Town of Frederick municipal building permits for the same project.

When you need this permit
- FFFPD issues permits for installation of any new fire alarm or fire sprinkler system, including fire pumps, kitchen hood suppression systems, bi-directional amplification systems, AES Radio systems, and underground fire lines, and for any modification to an existing system
- These FFFPD fire-protection-system permits are in addition to any Town of Frederick, Town of Firestone, or Weld County municipal permits for the same project
- Fire Protection System Plan Review, Permit, and Inspection Fees are assessed at a rate of 0.02 (2%) times the reported project value (materials and labor), with a minimum fee of $200.00
- A completed and signed FFFPD Application for Plan Review must be submitted, along with unlocked fire safety system shop drawings (fire alarm and/or fire sprinkler) with data/cut sheets
- The District accepts electronic submittals only — thumb drive, PDF by email, or file-sharing platforms such as Dropbox or Citrix
- Fees are required at the time of application; FFFPD reserves the right to dispute a contractor-reported project value and re-valuate using the ICC Building Valuation Data Chart
- Failed inspections are billed at the District's additional-service hourly rate ($100.00/hr) for a minimum of two hours; work completed without a permit is billed an additional 50% of the plan review and permit fee

Tips
- FFFPD's fire-protection-system permit fee (2% of project value) is separate from, and in addition to, the Town of Frederick's own municipal building permit fee for the same project — budget for both.
- Submit shop drawings unlocked (editable) and electronically only — FFFPD does not accept paper submittals or locked/flattened PDFs, per the District's submittal requirements.
- Work started without an FFFPD permit is billed an extra 50% surcharge on top of the standard plan review and permit fee — don't begin fire-protection-system installation before permit issuance.
