Tips
- The City's Permitting FAQ states building permit review 'usually takes a week or less. Sometimes longer when an extensive permit review is needed.' The Building Permit Application Checklist separately asks applicants to allow a minimum of five business days for the building official's initial review.
- A $100.00 minimum permit fee applies to every building permit regardless of project valuation, per the City's own fee schedule.
- It is the applicant's/owner's responsibility to call for required inspections; do not cover any work until the required inspection has been completed and approved.
- One-story detached accessory structures (sheds) 200 square feet or less, and small decks (200 sq ft or less, under 30 inches above grade, unattached to the dwelling, and not serving a required exit) are exempt from needing a building permit per IRC R105.2.
