Phone (775) 623-6319, fax (775) 623-6321 (per City of Winnemucca Basic Design Criteria handout) / (775) 623-6090 or (775) 623-6321 listed as fax on different department handouts. This is a distinct department from the Humboldt County Building Department (25 W. Fourth Street, (775) 623-6322), though both offices are located on Fourth Street in Winnemucca and jointly co-authored the Single Family Residence Permit Guide. All inspections require 24 hours notice; call (775) 623-6319 to schedule.

Published scheduling rules

  • All inspections must be requested at least one business day in advance; after-hours call-ins are logged the next business day. Call (775) 623-6319 to schedule. (Residential Building Permit (New Construction / Single-Family Dwelling))
  • Before demolishing any non-residential structure containing plumbing fixtures, an inspection must be scheduled so the number of plumbing fixtures can be counted and recorded; a sewer/water connection fee credit will be applied to a new structure built on the same property if the new permit is obtained within five years of the sewer/water fixture demolition and the number of removed plumbing connections is on record (Demolition Permit)
  • A final inspection must be requested upon completion of the demolition; before scheduling the final inspection, all concrete and debris must be removed from the lot, all holes and depressions filled in, and the lot rough-graded (Demolition Permit)

The job card issued with the permit lists the required inspections for the specific project; they must be performed in the sequence shown, called in 24 hours in advance, and no work may be covered before it receives an approved inspection. The guide prints the County inspection line ((775) 623-6322); for City of Winnemucca projects the City Building Department inspection line is (775) 623-6319 per the City's own handouts documented elsewhere in this record. The guide publishes no fixed commercial inspection list — it is project-specific via the job card.

  2. 2

    Final

Fire code review must be completed, and all required agency approvals (water and sanitation verification) presented, before the final inspection is requested; a certificate of occupancy is issued after passing all required inspections including the final — consistent with the 'signed-off job card IS the Certificate of Occupancy' practice documented in the department note
