  • Only permitted materials: wood, vinyl, precast concrete/concrete, stone or masonry, open-style metal fencing, gabion, steel cable, hog/horse wire with beams and posts (wood or metal); chain link and unlisted materials are PROHIBITED
  • One scale drawing showing property lines/streets, existing fences/structures, distance from back of curb to proposed fence line (front and side), adjacent open space/trails, fence height, open-or-solid style, and material(s)
  • Any planned or existing retaining wall must be indicated — retaining walls require a separate permit

    • No fence may be placed in the front yard parallel to the street; corner lots have additional setback and height restrictions.
    • Fences abutting a lot's rear open-space/trail corridor narrower than 40' can be up to 4' solid, but the top 2' must be at least 55% open, per the official Fence Permit Application diagram.
    • Chain link fencing and any material not on the official Permitted Materials list are prohibited outright.
    • If a retaining wall is planned alongside the fence, it must be indicated on the fence application drawing, but it still requires its own separate Planning/Zoning permit.
