La Verkin building inspections

Applies to: Residential Building Permit

   Building Inspection (general)

   Scheduled through the city's inspection request process (Schedule an Inspection Online, laverkin.cityinspect.com, or by phone at (435) 635-2581). The Consolidated Fee Schedule sets a minimum inspection fee of $50 for permits requiring one inspection and $100 for permits requiring two inspections (plus state sales tax), with a $47 fee for a third callback inspection.

   IRC/IECC Code Compliance Verification (thermal envelope and duct leakage)

   A certified tester/special inspector (BPI or RESNET certified) must complete and sign the city's IRC/IECC Code Compliance Certification form, verifying either prescriptive compliance (IRC Table N1102.4.1.1 air barrier/insulation, IRC § N1103.2.2 duct exception) or performance testing (blower-door test for air changes per hour; duct blaster test for CFM leakage at rough-in and/or final).

   Certificate of Occupancy / Completion

   A Certificate of Occupancy or Completion must be obtained from the Building Department prior to occupancy of any structure, per the notice printed on the official Building Permit Application form ('Prior to occupancy of any structure, a Certificate of Occupancy or Completion must be obtained from the Building Department').

Applies to: Solar / Solar PV Installation Permit

   Electrical Inspection

   New PV system wiring, inverter, and interconnection verified against 2023 NEC Article 690 by La Verkin's Building Inspection Division.

2. 2

   Structural/Roof-Mount Inspection

   For roof-mounted arrays, racking attachment and roof penetration verified against the adopted IBC/IRC structural provisions.

Final inspection only: Change of Use Permit, Commercial Tenant Improvement / Tenant Finish Permit, EV Charger / EVSE Permit, Fire Alarm System Permit, Sign Permit
