Inspection sequence

Applies to: Residential Building Permit (New Construction)

    Footing/Foundation

    After excavation and reinforcing steel placement, and after any required third-party special inspections (geotechnical, retaining wall), prior to concrete placement

    Under-Slab Plumbing, Water, and Electric

    Drain/waste/vent piping slope and test, water distribution and hot-water pipe insulation, proper bedding — prior to backfilling

  3. 3

    Rough Combo / Exterior Lath

    After framing, fire-blocking, windows, bracing, and rough electrical/plumbing/mechanical are in place; fire sprinkler systems (if applicable) must be inspected and approved by the fire district first

    Insulation

    After frame/exterior lath inspection and rough plumbing/mechanical/gas/electrical approval, prior to covering

    Gypsum Board / Drywall / Fire-Rated Construction

    Before joints and fasteners are taped and finished

    After all permitted work is complete and all other department/agency approvals (e.g., fire district, flood control) are obtained, prior to occupancy
