Sign Permit in Farr West, Utah

Tips
- Off-premises advertising for another business is generally prohibited except for I-15 outdoor advertising structures and permitted construction signs (§ 17.56.070.A) — confirm before assuming a billboard-style sign is allowed.
- Installing a sign before it is approved doubles the sign permit fee under § 17.56.020, on top of any other penalties in the sign chapter — always get approval before installation.
- Freestanding commercial signs must be set back 10 feet from the front curb/property line and side property lines, keep 10 feet of clearance above walkways (14 feet above vehicle ways), and stay out of the clear view triangle at intersections (§ 17.56.080.A-D).
- Political signs are allowed on private property, including the park strip, in any zone without a permit (§ 17.56.070.G); temporary/banner signs still go through the normal sign application process even though they're capped at 30 days (§ 17.56.080.J).
- The city council can issue a special permit for a sign that doesn't otherwise conform to Chapter 17.56 for a limited special use or occasion (§ 17.56.080.H).
