Sign Permit in Brigham City, Utah
Required in Brigham City for erecting, reconstructing, or remodeling any sign, under City Code Chapter 29.27 (Sign Regulations). Application is made to the Community Development Department. Re-chased 2026-07-20: the governing sign permit fee is $50.00 per hour of inspection time (minimum half hour), confirmed by TWO independent, decade-apart Brigham City-published sources that agree verbatim — the city's own general Business License Application (updated 03/07/2012, hosted at media.rainpos.com/1276) states 'The cost of a sign permit is $50.00 per hour, inspection time. Minimum 1/2 hr,' and the Wayback Machine's final capture (2022-02-27) of the dedicated bcutah.org Sign Permits page before that domain went dark states the identical figure. A third, lower figure of $35.25 minimum appears in only one place — a niche Home Occupation Minor business license application PDF whose embedded 'Signs' info sheet is dated Feb. 28, 2007 and was never updated even though the container PDF was nominally refreshed 2/20/2020; since that figure is contradicted by two agreeing, independently-dated official sources spanning 2012-2022, it is treated as stale unrevised boilerplate rather than the current governing fee. City Code Chapter 29.27.070(A) itself does not print a dollar figure — it delegates the fee to 'resolution of the City Council' — so the Business License Application and the archived Sign Permits page are the closest available primary evidence of that resolution's current dollar amount. Brigham City has since retired standalone sign-permit PDF forms in favor of the connect.bcutah.org online portal (per the current 'Business License Applications & Forms' page, which now routes 'Sign Permit Application' directly to connect.bcutah.org 'for new or existing commercial businesses'); the portal itself returned an HTTP 503 on a direct fetch attempt and could not be scraped for a further-updated figure.

Tips
- Sign permit fees are $50.00 per hour of inspection time (minimum half hour, i.e. $25.00 minimum), confirmed by two independent official Brigham City sources 10 years apart (2012 and 2022) — a lower $35.25 figure found in one niche Home Occupation Minor form is stale 2007 boilerplate and should not be relied on.
- If the sign and its installation are valued at $1,000 or more, you must name a licensed Sign Contractor (with state license number) on the application.
- Downtown businesses face additional Design Guidelines for signage — schedule a review with city staff before submitting.
- Sign permit applications are now routed through the connect.bcutah.org online portal per the city's current Business License Applications & Forms page; standalone PDF sign-permit application forms have been retired.
