Codes adopted
The State Building Code is in effect in every county and city in Washington, and its minimum performance standards may not be diminished locally. A local amendment that affects single-family or multifamily residential buildings is not effective unless the State Building Code Council approves it; amendments to non-residential provisions carry no such approval requirement.
- THE 2021 EDITIONS, NAMED, WITH THE COPIES ON FILE. MMC 16.04.010 adopts "Certain documents, copies of which are on file in the office of the building official of the city of Marysville, being marked and designated as the "2021 International Building Code" and the "2021 International Residential Code," and the "2021 International Building Code Standards," published by the International Code Council".
AND FUTURE AMENDMENTS ARRIVE AUTOMATICALLY. MMC 16.04.020: "All amendments or supplements to the 2021 International Building Code and 2021 International Residential Code hereinafter adopted by the International Code… Show full textShow less
AND FUTURE AMENDMENTS ARRIVE AUTOMATICALLY. MMC 16.04.020: "All amendments or supplements to the 2021 International Building Code and 2021 International Residential Code hereinafter adopted by the International Code Council and by the state of Washington as part of the State Building Code shall become a part of this code in all respects insofar as it is applied and enforced within the jurisdictional boundaries of the city of Marysville." Named edition plus an explicit rolling clause.
THE APPENDIX SECTION CUTS BOTH WAYS IN ONE SENTENCE. MMC 16.04.030: "Appendices AF, AQ and AU of the 2021 International Residential Code, Chapter 11 and Chapters 25 through 43 are not adopted. Show full textShow less
THE APPENDIX SECTION CUTS BOTH WAYS IN ONE SENTENCE. MMC 16.04.030: "Appendices AF, AQ and AU of the 2021 International Residential Code, Chapter 11 and Chapters 25 through 43 are not adopted. Appendix E of the 2021 International Building Code is adopted". So the IRC appendices AF, AQ (Tiny Homes) and AU are NOT adopted here - unlike Camas and Yakima, which specifically adopt Appendix Q - and IRC Chapter 11 and Chapters 25 through 43 are out too.
- RCW 19.27 - the Washington State Building Code applies statewide.

Marysville's permit history isn't searchable here yet
This page covers what the permit requires. What we don't have for Marysville yet is the record of permits actually issued — the history you'd search by street address. That is a gap in our coverage, not a statement about any particular property.
Your email, and the place — never an address. We only use it to tell you when Marysville lands. Privacy.
Tips & gotchas
- THE PUBLISHED FEE TABLE DOES NOT AGREE WITH ITSELF at two boundaries ($2,000 and $1,000,000). Four of six boundaries are exact. Ask the city which figure governs before budgeting.
- And the printed figures are a February 2023 base carrying "a cost modifier of 1.03 applied each year starting in 2025" - so the table is not the amount due.
- Plan review is 65% of the permit fee; a repeated "basic" plan in a subdivision is 35%.
- The hourly rate is published years ahead: $119 for 2026, $122 for 2027, $126 for 2028.
- OCCUPYING WITHOUT WATER AND SEWER IS UNLAWFUL and leads to posting, securing and abatement at your cost.
- The appeal clock runs from POSTING - 10 business days - not from when you notice the sign.
- IRC Appendices AF, AQ and AU are NOT adopted here, unlike Camas and Yakima which adopt Appendix Q for tiny homes.
- Marysville's code is on ecode360, not codepublishing - the codepublishing address redirects.
