Solar Thermal Permit in Lafayette, Colorado
Required for solar thermal (hot water/hydronic) system installations in Lafayette. Distinct from the Solar PV permit, with its own submittal checklist, a published 3-working-day review commitment, and its own residential flat fee ($63) that the City states is significantly lower than many other Colorado communities.

Plus City use tax and Boulder County use tax, per the Solar Thermal Permit Requirements page. That page was verified live carrying this exact figure as recently as the 2026-02-18 archived capture, but the City has since removed it (404) and the figure appears on NO live source: searched the live Exhibit A/B/C/D Fee Schedule PDF (which lists no solar-thermal line at all, only the $100 Solar PV flat fee), the live Building Code & Design Information checklist page (which now lists a single combined 'Solar' checklist covering PV only, with no solar-thermal checklist), the live Solar Permit Application Process and Solar Inspection Checklist PDFs (both PV-only), the Apply for Building Permits page, the Building Division page, and the City site search. Figure retained because it was genuinely published and may well still be honored; confirm with the Building Division (303-661-1451) before quoting.Review timeline

Tips
- Lafayette explicitly markets its solar thermal fee ($63 residential) as significantly lower than many other Colorado communities to promote solar adoption.
- Flush-mounted solar thermal systems may submit generic engineering rather than a project-specific structural evaluation — ground-mount or non-flush installations need the full engineer's evaluation.
