Tips

  • Lyons' Design Criteria (140 mph wind speed, 30 psf ground snow load, required ice shield underlayment) reflect its post-2013-flood, foothills-canyon setting — confirm your design professional is using the Town's specific table, not a generic Front Range or Boulder County assumption.
  • If your parcel is anywhere near the St. Vrain River or a mapped floodplain, budget for a separate Floodplain Development Permit and possibly an Elevation Certificate — this is a distinct process from the standard building permit and Elevation Certificates must be completed by a Colorado licensed surveyor, engineer, or architect.
  • For any permit application on or after July 1, 2026, confirm with SAFEbuilt whether the 2024 ICC code series and the Wildfire Resiliency Code are both operationally in force — the Town's own published materials as of this file's verification date still reference the 2021 series pending that transition.
