Published scheduling rules
- Inspection requests must be submitted at least 5 working days in advance (adopted IFC Sec. 108.2.1) (Electrical Permit)

- Monitored systems need the State electrical rough-in/final inspections completed BEFORE CBFPD will schedule its own corresponding inspection — sequence your electrician and CBFPD inspection requests accordingly, and don't request a CBFPD Fire Final until the project is genuinely move-in ready. (Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm System Permit)

Before concrete pour; 36-inch minimum frost line depth per the Town's design criteria (new construction/additions)

Rough Frame
Structural framing complete before cover; work must match BOZAR-approved plans — deviations discovered by the Building Inspector or Board members trigger a stop-work order and possible new-permit requirement (Town Code Sec. 18-13-40(g))

Rough Electrical / Plumbing / Mechanical
Trade rough-ins before concealment; inspection requests must be submitted at least five (5) working days prior to the requested date (adopted IFC Sec. 108.2.1, Town Code Sec. 18-6-20(4))

Fire / Life-Safety
2024 IFC (updated from the 2021 edition by Ordinance No. 9, Series 2025, effective September 15, 2025 — see the codesAdopted list) enforced in coordination with the Crested Butte Fire Protection District (CBFPD); kitchen exhaust/hood systems per the Town's adopted IgCC Sec. 701.4.3.8 and the $200 mechanical exhaust hood permit line

Final Building Inspection / Certificate of Occupancy
Certificate of occupancy required before the space may be rented, occupied or used (Town Code Sec. 18-13-70); permit expires one year after issuance, single 6-month renewal available for good cause
