Fire Sprinkler / Fire Alarm System Permit in Mount Crested Butte, Colorado
Fire protection and fire-code plan review for Mount Crested Butte is provided by the Crested Butte Fire Protection District (CBFPD), a special district separate from Town government (300 County Road 317, Crested Butte, CO 81224; 970-349-5333). New construction and alteration plan review (Section 1001 of CBFPD's Fire Prevention Fee Schedule) is valuation/square-footage based and explicitly includes plan review and inspection of automatic fire suppression systems and/or monitored fire alarm systems where required — CBFPD does not publish a separate stand-alone sprinkler/alarm permit fee line distinct from this bundled new-construction review.

When you need this permit
- Plans submitted through CBFPD's Plan Review Application, including access plans (driveway), utilities location, and a complete set of plans
- A Pre-Application Meeting Request is available (and recommended) before submittal to ensure a complete application/plan package
- CBFPD reviews the application and issues an invoice for review fees; the review process begins once payment is received
- Fire suppression (sprinkler) and monitored fire alarm system plan review/inspection is bundled into the New Construction and Alterations plan review fee (Section 1001A) rather than charged as a separate line item, per CBFPD's Fire Prevention Fees schedule
- Commercial fire underground plan review and inspection scheduling must be submitted separately to the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control — not included in CBFPD's fee
- All plan fees paid include one compliant field inspection; non-compliant re-inspections are billed separately ($250 first occurrence / $500 additional occurrences for residential; $500 first occurrence / $1,000 additional for commercial)

Tips
- CBFPD does not itemize a separate fee for fire sprinkler or fire alarm plan review — it is bundled into the same valuation/square-footage-based New Construction and Alterations plan review fee used for the rest of the building's fire-code review, per Section 1001A of the fee schedule.
- Only ONE compliant field inspection is included per plan fee paid — a non-compliant re-inspection is billed separately ($250-$1,000 depending on occupancy type and occurrence count).
