Fire Sprinkler / Fire Alarm System Permit in Mead, Colorado
Fire protection for Mead is provided by Mountain View Fire Rescue (MVFR/MVFPD, 6328 Monarch Park Place, Niwot, CO 80503, (303) 772-0710, plans@mvfpd.org), a special district serving 184 square miles including Mead, Dacono, Del Camino, Niwot, Erie, and unincorporated Boulder/Weld counties. MVFR's Fire Prevention Division publishes a Fee Schedule (Fire Prevention Division) confirming that review of installation/modification plans for fire protection and life-safety systems — including fire alarm systems, automatic fire-extinguishing systems, and standpipe systems — is billed based on the total valuation of the work, with a doubled fee if work begins before approval is granted. General plan review/consultation and revision fees run $85.00/hr (minimum charges apply), and re-inspection of a failed inspection is $125.00/hr.

- Fees for subsequent hours of plan review must be paid prior to inspection and issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy

Tips
- Mountain View Fire Rescue doubles the plan review fee if construction starts before plan approval is granted — get your fire-protection-system plans approved BEFORE breaking ground, not concurrently.
- A location with more than 3 equipment/system-malfunction false alarms (uncorrected within 48 hours) or 10+ responses in a calendar year faces a $150/alarm inspection fee — keep your fire alarm system properly maintained to avoid this.
