Tips

  • Idaho Code 39-4117 gives the City 20 business days to determine completeness of a commercial building permit application, versus 10 business days for residential — this is a completeness-review clock, not a full plan-approval SLA.
  • Commercial permits become null and void if not picked up within 180 days of approval, or if construction is not completed within 180 days of issuance (residential completion window is shorter, at 120 days).
  • Plans must be stamped by the design professional (architect/engineer) for commercial submittals — this is not required on the residential application unless the design falls outside prescriptive code.
