Tips
- Allow up to 10 working days for plan review, or 20 working days for complex commercial buildings or hangars, per the City's published Review Process.
- Electrical and plumbing permits are issued by the State of Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL, formerly Division of Building Safety), not the City — applicants must arrange those inspections separately and present proof of compliance before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued.
- Mechanical (HVAC, gas piping, fireplaces) work is inspected by the City's own Mechanical Inspector, not the State — contact Wyatt Penfold at (208) 709-6810.
- Contact the Building Inspector (Al Russo, (208) 709-5740) or Mechanical Inspector at least 24 hours in advance for inspections; requests made before 3:00 PM are scheduled for the next working day.
- A completed Building Permit & Site Plan Checklist must be uploaded with the application — incomplete submissions are not accepted for review.
- A $2,000 road damage bond is required if any road cutting for utilities is planned.
- Ground snow load is 85 psf and frost depth is 36 inches minimum — among the more stringent design criteria in the Teton Valley region.
