Tips
- Apply online through the City of Las Cruces Citizen Portal (Accela); a valid address assigned by the City is a prerequisite.
- Standard review is 3 business days; Over-The-Counter (OTC) qualifying properties or approved master plan sets in non-flood-zone R1a/R1b districts get 1-business-day review.
- The residential building permit fee is a simple $0.20/sq ft flat rate (not a valuation table) — one of the simplest fee structures among major New Mexico cities.
- 25% of the building permit fee (the plan check fee) is due at submittal; the remainder can be paid at submittal or at issuance.
- All fees are tripled if work starts before a permit is issued.
