On-site building inspections are performed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., except City holidays; inspections can be scheduled online as early as the next business day (up to 5 business days out) if requested before midnight. Note: the City's Building Permit application checklists (rev. 2023-2024) list an older office address of 201 S Cortez St, Prescott, AZ 86303 — the current Permit Center pages (2025-2026 vintage) consistently list 201 N Montezuma Street, Prescott, AZ 86301, which is used here as the verified current address.

Published scheduling rules

  • Inspections can be scheduled online as early as the next business day if requested before midnight; inspections run Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., not on weekends or City holidays. (Residential Building Permit (New Single-Family Residence / Duplex))
  • Day-of inspection cancellations for fire permits do not go through the portal - call the Fire Permit Technician at 928-777-1405 ext. 4967 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Cancellations made by 11:59 p.m. the day before can be done online. After 4 failed inspections a $103.00 re-inspection fee applies and must be paid before a new inspection can be scheduled. (Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm System Permit)

    Required by the Prescott Fire Department for all fire protection system work, before concealment. For projects with underground fire line scope, the fire sprinkler rough inspection will not be completed until the underground has been approved and an Underground Certificate of Completion has been received.
