Exception: manufactured mobile homes built on a chassis and designed/built as a dwelling unit, and recreational vehicles that were not site built and are portable in nature.; City amendment IFC Sec. 903.3.1.3: NFPA 13D systems installed in one- and two-family dwellings, Group R-3, R-4 Condition 1, Group R-3 and R-4 congregate living facilities, and townhouses must include sprinklers in vehicle garages, livable spaces, and concealed or accessible spaces intended for storage use and/or future living space; City amendment IFC Sec. 903.3.5.3 (hydraulic calculations): submitted calculations must include a single-head calculation design area located in the most remote location of the system, with the remote inspector test valve located as close as possible to that design area; elevation pressure loss from the flow test location to the base of the riser must be included; for 1-inch meter sets, design areas requiring 27 GPM or under use a fixed pressure loss of 16 PSI and design areas over 27 GPM use 21.5 PSI; the storage capacity and recovery rate of a well may NOT be used in calculating water storage capacity to meet NFPA 13D requirements; Permit subtypes filed under the FIRE SPRINKLERS AND ALARMS type: AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER AND ALARM SYSTEM - COMMERCIAL, AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM - ONLY - COMMERCIAL, AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM - RESIDENTIAL, and FIRE ALARM AND DETECTION SYSTEM - ONLY - COMMERCIAL; alternate suppression systems are filed under the separate FIRE SUPPRESSION - ALTERNATE SYSTEM - COMMERCIAL type. Each is used when installing the system in an existing building separate from a remodel permit (City of Prescott Permit Type & Subtype Descriptions handout, page 3 of 10).; Affidavit path for small modifications: a Fire Sprinkler Affidavit or Fire Alarm Affidavit plan submittal may be used when up to 6 devices are removed or added in a building within one year, as approved by the Fire Code Official; modifications greater than 6 devices require full plans and calculations (City of Prescott Application for Fire Protection Systems Plan Approval, rev. 9/7/2023); Fire sprinkler plans must be sealed by an Arizona registrant or a NICET Level III or IV; a Fire Flow Test Report must be submitted with the plans when plans and calculations are required. Commercial fire alarm plans must be sealed by an Arizona registrant or NICET Level III or higher, and the installer on site must hold NICET Level I certification (or equivalent approved by the Prescott Fire Department) with the certification on site during installation, inspection, repairs, and testing.; Kitchen hood and suppression system plans are submitted as a separate permit AND as part of the building plan permit for overall building construction review; paint spray booth suppression plans are likewise submitted both separately and as part of the building plan permit; Underground fire lines: the fire sprinkler rough inspection will not be completed unless the underground has been approved and an Underground Certificate of Completion has been received; remote FDC lines must be flushed with a Prescott Fire Department inspector on site, with KNOX FDC caps required at the time of the FDC flush; all other underground fire lines are inspected by Public Works; Prescott Fire Department requires Rough Inspections and Final Inspections for all fire protection system work.
