Tips

  • Castle Rock runs its OWN Building Division — it is a separate prequalified department from Douglas County, confirmed via the Colorado DFPC prequalified building departments list. Do not assume Douglas County handles Castle Rock permits.
  • Snow load is elevation-tiered and explicitly non-reducible: confirm your parcel's exact elevation against the 30/35/40 psf bands (6,000 ft and 6,500 ft are the break points).
  • Ice barrier underlayment is mandatory town-wide (not just above a certain elevation, unlike some Front Range jurisdictions) for most standard roofing materials, except on unconditioned detached accessory structures.
