Plumbing Permit in Akron, Colorado
Plumbing work in the Town of Akron is NOT permitted through a Town-run plumbing program — Akron's Title 10 Town Code contains no plumbing chapter, and the Town's own live Building Department page states plainly: 'All plumbing and electrical permits are handled by the State of Colorado.' Plumbing permits are issued and inspected by the Colorado State Plumbing Board (DORA Division of Professions and Occupations); the same live Town page states the resulting state plumbing permit number should then be provided to the Town of Akron.

When you need this permit
- A valid Colorado State Plumbing permit (State Plumbing Board, DORA/DPO) must be obtained prior to installing plumbing in Akron; permits may be obtained online through the State's Electrical and Plumbing Permits system
- A homeowner may perform plumbing work at their own residence and obtain the homeowner permit directly from the State Plumbing Board, provided the work is personally performed, the property is not for sale/resale/rent and not open to the public, all work is inspected before and after concealment, and all work complies with the currently adopted plumbing code Owner-builder
- A Plumbing Contractor must obtain permits for company work; a homeowner-issued permit cannot be used by a contractor
- Plumbing installations must comply with the International Plumbing Code (IPC), International Residential Code (IRC), and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) as adopted by the State of Colorado
- Per the Town's live Building Department page, the resulting State of Colorado plumbing permit number should be provided to the Town of Akron once obtained; the Town's own current Building Permit Application form also includes a dedicated 'STATE PLUMBING PERMIT #' field to record it

Tips
- Do not apply to the Town of Akron for a plumbing permit — obtain it directly from the Colorado State Plumbing Board (DORA/DPO), then provide the resulting state permit number to the Town of Akron (per the Town's own live Building Department page), since the Town's own building-permit file for the same project may expect that reference.
