Fire Sprinkler / Fire Alarm System Permit in Gilcrest, Colorado
Fire protection in Gilcrest is provided by the Platteville-Gilcrest Fire Protection District (PGFPD), which maintains a station at 14679 CR 42 in Gilcrest and issues permits for installation of any new, or modification to any existing, fire alarm or fire sprinkler system (including kitchen hood systems), per the District's own Plan Review Fee Schedule (effective January 1, 2022). These PGFPD permits are in addition to any permits required by the Town of Gilcrest. Fees are tiered by project site square footage, and all contractors installing or repairing fire protection systems within the District must hold an applicable Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control registration.

When you need this permit
- PGFPD issues permits for installation of any new, or modification to any existing, fire alarm or fire sprinkler system, including kitchen hood systems; these permits are in addition to any Town of Gilcrest municipal permits
- Permits are issued only upon review of submitted plans; submittals for fire alarm and suppression systems require one complete set of drawings (including cut sheets and calculations) plus one electronic version, stamped by a NICET Level III or higher technician in the appropriate field of engineering
- A copy of approved plans must be available at the job site during inspection
- As of January 1, 2022, all contractors installing and/or repairing fire protection systems within PGFPD's jurisdiction must hold an applicable registration with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control
- Every permit issued includes one inspection per project phase; additional inspections beyond that are billed at $75.00/hour (or fraction thereof), and re-inspection fees must be paid before the third inspection and any subsequent inspections
- After-hours inspections (outside 7:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday) are billed at $75.00/hour with a two-hour minimum
- Submittals are delivered or sent to District Headquarters, Platteville Fire Station, 202 Main Street, Platteville, CO 80651 (Dave Sutton, 970-817-1416)

Tips
- PGFPD's fire-protection-system permit is separate from, and in addition to, any Town of Gilcrest municipal building permit for the same project — budget for both.
- Fees scale by site square footage, not by system complexity — a small sprinkler system in a large building is billed at the building's full-site tier, not a reduced tier for the system's own footprint.
- Only one inspection per project phase is included in the base fee — plan for a $75.00/hour re-inspection charge if additional visits become necessary.
