Tips
- The City of Plummer follows Benewah County's building valuation fee schedule (the County currently provides Plummer's building inspector) and then adds a 25% City surcharge on top — budget for both components when estimating total permit cost.
- Separate permits are required for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and sewer work. These trades are state-administered by the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL), not issued by City Hall — DOPL's regional inspector list assigns dedicated electrical, HVAC, and plumbing inspectors to the Plummer (83851) service area.
- This permit becomes null and void if work is not commenced within 180 days of issuance, or if construction is suspended/abandoned for 180 days at any point after work has commenced.
- Completed permit applications should be emailed to rhi@cityofplummer.org.
- Design criteria to build to: Seismic Zone C, 24-inch minimum frost depth, 90 mph basic wind speed, and a minimum 60 PSF roof snow load.
- The City of Plummer's Public Works Superintendent is also authorized to review permits and building documents on site, in addition to the Building Inspector.
