Published scheduling rules

  • Many everyday signs are fully exempt from Title 15 and do not need a sign permit: public-agency/legal-notice signs, tombstones and historical plaques, small religious symbols (≤4 sq ft), signs more than 25 feet from a public street or not intended to be viewed from one, indoor non-animated signs, vehicle logos on licensed commercial vehicles (not used as parked static displays), art without an advertising message, gas pump/vending machine/drive-in menu signage, and short-term event signs like garage-sale or lost-and-found notices (max 4 per event, up ≤24 hours before and removed immediately after) — City Code § 15-2-100.     Footings

    Excavation complete and forms in place, before concrete pour

    Foundation

    Foundation walls and rebar before backfill

  3. 3

    Underground Plumbing

    Underground plumbing lines before slab pour

  4. 4

    Water and Sewer Laterals

    Water and sewer lateral connections verified against as-built drawings

  5. 5

    Temporary Power Pedestal

    If passed, the City emails clearance to Rocky Mountain Power; owner/contractor must have an account set up with the power company before power is turned on (1-888-221-7070)

  6. 6

    4-Way (Framing/Electrical/Plumbing/Mechanical Rough-In)

    Building enclosed, structural members still exposed, rough-in for heating, plumbing, and electrical work in place and visible

  7. 7

    Gas Line

    If passed, the City sends clearance to Dominion Energy

  8. 8

    Insulation

    Insulation installed, before drywall

  9. 9

    Brick Flashing

    Masonry veneer flashing inspection where applicable

  10. 10

    Permanent Power

    If passed, the City emails clearance to Rocky Mountain Power

  11. 11

    Final

    All work complete; a final inspection is required or the permit becomes non-compliant and may result in a lien against the property

  12. 12

    Final Site/Grading

    Building enclosed, structural members still exposed, rough-in for heating, plumbing, and electrical work in place and visible.

    Interior wall framing and structural connections verified before close-in, where the scope includes structural work.

    MEP Rough-In

    Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical rough-in for the tenant space, inspected before walls closed.

    Fire / Life Safety (if applicable)

    Fire sprinkler/alarm modifications inspected where required by the adopted IBC/IFC.

    Final

    All tenant-finish or remodel work complete before occupancy.

Applies to: Demolition Permit

    Pre-Demolition (Historic Preservation)

    Historic Preservation Commission review of the Remodel/Demolition Information Form, at least 10 days before demolition

    Pre-Demolition (Hazardous Materials)

    Davis County Environmental Health inspection for mercury thermostats/lamps, PCB ballasts/transformers, refrigerant units, and other hazardous materials

    Final / Site Clear

    Confirms utilities disconnected and site cleared per approved demolition plan

Applies to: Fire Sprinkler System Permit

    Flow

    Flow test of the sprinkler system, included in the base permit fee.

  2. 2

    Hydro

    Hydrostatic pressure test, included in the base permit fee.

  3. 3

    Final

    Final inspection and acceptance of the completed system, included in the base permit fee (3 inspections total included).

Applies to: Roofing Permit (Reroof / Roof Recover)

    Sheathing

    For a recover, the existing roof is inspected; ensures the roof surface is smooth with proper fastening and spacing of solid sheathing, and crickets installed if needed

    Ice Barrier

    Proper placement of ice barrier per 2021 IRC R905.1.2/R905.2.8.5

  3. 3

    Final

    Confirms roof was installed properly with all required vents, flashings, and drip edges

    Zoning Compliance Review

    Review by the Zoning Administrator confirming the contemplated use of the land/building complies with Title 11 (Zoning), per City Code section 11-4-050.C.2.

    Building Official Sign-Off

    Building Official confirms the building complies with applicable building codes before the joint Certificate of Occupancy is issued, per City Code section 11-4-050.C.1.

Applies to: Solar Panel (PV) Permit

    Rough Electrical

    Verification of conduit, wire sizing, grounding/bonding, and disconnect placement per the submitted one-line diagram before the system is energized.

    Final Inspection

    Confirms racking/mounting attachment, roof-penetration sealing, module and inverter installation match approved plans, and required labeling is in place.
