EV Charger / Electric Vehicle Charging Station Permit in Evanston, Wyoming
Evanston has no separate EV charger permit or fee line — installation of an electric vehicle charging station (Level 1/2 EVSE) is wiring work and is billed and processed exactly like any other electrical installation under the Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office statewide electrical program (W.S. § 35-9-119), the same State-administered mechanism documented in the electrical-permit entry. The City of Evanston does not permit or inspect electrical work of any kind, including EV chargers.

When you need this permit
- Apply directly to the Wyoming State Fire Marshal's Office electrical program — NOT the City of Evanston — for the EV charger circuit/EVSE installation, exactly as for any other wiring permit
- New dedicated circuits, panel upgrades, and EVSE hardwiring or receptacle installation are all covered under the State's standard wiring permit
- If installing solar and EV charging together, both fall under the same State electrical permit/plan-review process — see solar-pv-permit type

Tips
- There is no dedicated EV charger permit or fee in Evanston or under the Wyoming State Fire Marshal's program — an EV charger circuit is simply billed and inspected as standard electrical wiring work.
- Do NOT apply to the City of Evanston — electrical work of every kind, including EV chargers, goes through the State Fire Marshal's Office, not the City Building Department.
