Inspection sequence

Applies to: Residential Building Permit — New Construction (Single-Family)

    Foundation / Footings

    Before concrete pour — forms, rebar, anchor bolts, and frost depth compliance

  2. 2

    Underground Plumbing

    Underground plumbing before slab pour

  3. 3

    Framing

    After framing and sheathing complete, before insulation or wall cover — fire sprinkler rough-in also inspected

  4. 4

    Rough-In (MEP)

    Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical rough-in inspections before wall cover

  5. 5

    Insulation / Energy

    Insulation installed, energy compliance items verified before drywall

  6. 6

    Final

    All work complete per approved plans; permit becomes Certificate of Occupancy upon approved final for new SFD

    Rough Electrical

    Rough electrical inspection by NLV Building Safety, before wiring is concealed

  2. 2

    Rough Fire Alarm

    Inspection of all device/box locations and wiring by NLV Fire Prevention, before concealment behind sheetrock

  3. 3

    Contractor Pretest

    Installing contractor pretests the entire system prior to scheduling the final inspection; a written pretest record must be provided

  4. 4

    24-Hour Battery Test

    Two-part test: AC power is disconnected, then at least 24 hours later all indicating devices are activated for at least 5 minutes (15 minutes for voice communications) while AC remains disconnected; the second portion may be performed at final

  5. 5

    Fire Alarm Final

    NLV Fire Prevention witnesses the fire alarm final at completion of installation; record of completion and maintenance agreement must be uploaded via the CSS Portal beforehand

    Pool bonding, equipment grounding, and conduit runs before cover

    Fence / Barrier

    Pool enclosure/barrier inspection before water fill

    Final

    All equipment installed and operational, safety features (alarms, fence/gates) verified per 2024 ISPSC

    Piping, hangers, and underground supply inspected and hydrostatically tested/flushed before concealment; North Las Vegas Fire Prevention must be notified at least 24 hours in advance. Piping concealed before signoff must be exposed for inspection per IFC §108.4.

    Final

    Completed system inspected and accepted by Fire Prevention, verified against approved plans and applicable NFPA standards

    After ductwork installed, before walls covered — verify clearances, support, and connections

    Equipment operational, combustion air verified, venting correct, thermostat functional
