- Submitted through the City's Citizen Portal to Fire Engineering prior to installation; contractor must hold an appropriate Nevada State Contractors Board fire protection license and class
- Full plans with hydraulic calculations required above the letter-submittal threshold; a simplified letter submittal is allowed for NFPA 13/13R systems with 5 heads or less, or a standardized NFPA 13D residential tract system
- Must comply with the 2024 International Fire Code and Southern Nevada amendments (City of Las Vegas Ordinance #6918), effective January 5, 2026
- An incomplete initial submittal requires a new, clean resubmittal rather than marked-up corrections to the original

Tips
- A simplified 'letter' submittal (no hydraulic calculations required) is available for NFPA 13/13R systems with 5 heads or less, or a standardized NFPA 13D residential tract system -- faster and cheaper than a full plan submittal.
- Fire Engineering's standard queue runs about 2-3 weeks; Over-The-Counter (OTC) review is available Monday-Thursday for eligible small-scope projects (3 business days, additional $117), and Overtime (OT) expedited review is $220/hour with a 1-hour minimum but does not guarantee same-day approval.
- Submittals deemed incomplete require a brand-new, clean resubmittal rather than marked-up corrections to the original.
