Tips

  • The Town uses the ICC Square Footage Building Valuation Data table (currently February 2022 edition; moving to February 2026 edition on July 1, 2026) to set a MINIMUM valuation — if your actual project cost is higher, the Town will use your higher provided figure instead.
  • If your project is within the Arapahoe County portion of the Town, budget for the additional 0.25% open-space sales & use tax on top of the Town-wide 2% use tax — both are calculated on half of total valuation, so confirm which county your parcel sits in before estimating total permit cost.
  • Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue conducts its own separate site-plan approval and final inspection process (with its own ~60-business-day minimum review) that runs alongside, not inside, the Town Building Department's own permit review — plan for both processes, not just one.
